Sesame Seed Oil

Our golden sesame seed oil is a virgin oil, meaning that it has been extracted by mechanical means using cold-pressing. No heat or chemical solvents are used in the production process in order to preserve the nutritional benefits, health-promoting properties and exquisite flavor of golden sesame seeds.

  • Cold Pressed Sesame Seed Oil
  • Sesame oil is an excellent source of healthy fats. Approximately equal amounts of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids account for about 85% of sesame oil content. Importantly, sesame oil contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
  • Omega-3 fats are well-known for their anti-inflammatory benefits and for their ability to reduce the level of triglycerides in the bloodstream, thereby promoting cardiovascular health.
  • Omega-6 fats, for their part, improve insulin sensitivity, which can be especially beneficial for patients suffering from diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Omega-6 fats also improve the levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol in the body.
  • Sesame seed oil contains the unique plant compounds sesamol, sesaminol and sesamin. These lignans have been observed to have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects which can aid in the prevention of cancer, chronic disease, and age-related illnesses.
  • Sesame oil is also rich in phytosterols, which are plant compounds that have a molecular structure similar to that of cholesterol. When ingested, phytosterols lead to a reduced absorption of LDL or “bad” cholesterol in the digestive tract, and therefore improve overall vascular health.
  • How to Use Sesame Oil
  • Our sesame oil is made from raw golden sesame seeds. It has a delicate nutty flavor and light color.
  • Sesame oil can be drizzled on a variety of dishes such as salads, soups, dips, and rice or noodles. It can also be used in combination with spices to prepare sauces or marinades.
  • Sesame oil can be used in cooking, either alone or in combination with other oils. It has a high smoke point which reaches above 170 degrees Celsius. The lignan compounds which are responsible for sesame oil’s antioxidant benefits also confer a stability on the oil when it is heated and protect it from rancidity.Sesame oil can be used to sauté, stir-fry or deep-fry vegetables, fish or meat.
